I'm not sure how much anthropomorphism even helps with humans. Part of the reason there is so much violence is that one tribe is unable to accept the humanity of the other, because of cultural if not physical differences.
I do wonder if we achieve our goal - intelligent humanoid robots that can perform toil without being paid - or even bodiless intelligent robots that can perform human work without being paid - what will the moral implications be for us.
Using human slaves caused great damage to the slaves. But even the enslavers suffered moral injury. We say that absolute power corrupts absolutely. But will we do anything to prevent that? I don't think we will.
